Julie Baron, LCSW-C, is a licensed clinical social worker with 30 years of experience, specializing in treatment with adolescents, emerging adults and their parents. She has practiced evidence-based relational strategies and interventions to engage and empower her clients in reaching their goals in community-based mental health centers, residential treatment facilities, home-based crisis stabilization programs, public and private schools, and, currently, in private practice. She authors articles, blogs, and a monthly newsletter on working with and parenting teens. Her writing has been featured in outlets including Edutopia and Stopbullying.gov. Baron is also the co-author of What Works With Teens: A Professional’s Guide to Engaging Authentically With Teens to Achieve Lasting Change (2015).

Baron enjoys speaking and training adolescents, parents, and professionals on various topics related to adolescent development, treatment with adolescents and families, mental health and wellness, and parenting teens and young adults. She supervises and trains graduate and masters-level social workers and is an adjunct faculty member at the Tulane University School of Social Work. She owns and manages Julie Baron and Associates, a private practice in Rockville, MD, where she provides individual, family and group psychotherapy and coordinates an evidence-based comprehensive DBT program for teens and young adults. She graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and from Boston University with a Masters in Social Work.
