Deborah Carr, Ph.D., is a professor of sociology and director of the Center for Innovation in Social Science at Boston University. She is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Health & Social Behavior and former editor-in-chief of the Journal of Gerontology: Social Sciences (2015-2020). She is the author of several books, including the award-winning Golden Years? Social Inequality in Later Life (Russell Sage, 2019); Aging in America (University of California, 2023); Worried Sick: Why Stress Hurts Us and How to Bounce Back (Rutgers University Press, 2014); and Making Up with Mom: Why Mothers and Daughters Disagree About Kids, Careers, and Casseroles (and What to Do About It) (Thomas Dunne, 2008). She has written widely on stress and health, aging, and the ways family relations can help (or hurt) us. Her work has been featured in the ABC World News Tonight, CNN, NBC Nightly News, New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and other media outlets.
