Bruce Hutchison, Ph.D., is a native Winnipegger who has been a psychologist since he received his M.A. in Psychology from the University of Manitoba and became registered in 1969. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa in 1984. As a clinical psychologist with 50+ years experience, performing psychotherapy, counselling, consultation and assessment to thousands of clients and patients in various settings, he understands people, emotions, relationships, allegiances, social trends, thoughts, behavior and what makes people tick. He has worked as a psychologist in prisons, hospitals, social agencies, mental health programs, and for many years in independent private practice, providing psychological services in three Canadian provinces.

He has worked for private companies assessing candidates' psychological suitability to carry firearms. He has been an oral examiner of candidates striving to become a psychologist. He has served on boards of psychology in two Canadian provinces and on a national basis in Canada.

His name is recognized by many throughout Canada. He has received awards of recognition for leadership and advocacy from two professional psychology organizations. He has been Head of Psychology in an urban Canadian hospital, a Clinical Associate in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Alberta, an assistant professor at the University of Manitoba Clinical Health Psychology Program in the Faculty of Medicine and has supervised and trained student psychologists.

He is now retired and has become an author. He has experienced emotional contagion in many sessions with his clients when emotions move and flow from client to therapist. He has appeared on TV and radio, and given many speeches and talks about various topics, such as managing stress, building self-esteem, overcoming depression and managing phobias. He is married to Catherine and lives in Ottawa, ON with their cat Spring. He has two adult children and ten lovely grandchildren.
