Antonieta Contreras is the author of Traumatization and Its Aftermath, winner of the 2023 Best Books Award and the 2024 American Legacy Book Awards in Psychology/Mental Health. A former banker and consultant originally educated as a mathematician, she is a Gestalt-trained, trauma-focused, and sex psychotherapist, faculty member and supervisor. In her practice and approach, she combines different trauma modalities she is certified in, as well as the contemplative techniques that she learned in India and from Tibetan Buddhist traditions.
